This site exists for one reason: to help people find honest, easy-to-understand information about the Lifeline program – the federal benefit that helps people with low income get affordable phone and internet service.

Why we started this site

If you’ve ever searched online for a “free government phone,” you already know the problem. The results are full of confusing government language, half-true promises, outdated pages, and websites that pretend to be something they’re not. It’s hard to tell what’s real.

That felt wrong to us. The people who need this program the most, families stretching every dollar, seniors on a fixed income, people going through a hard season – deserve clear answers, not confusion.

So we built a place that explains things simply and tells the truth, even when the truth is “that program ended” or “that provider is no longer active.”

What we do here

We research the Lifeline program and the providers that offer it, and then we write it all down. On this site you’ll find help with things like:

• Who qualifies for Lifeline and what documents you need
• How to apply, step by step, and how long it usually takes
• What to do if your application is denied
• How to switch providers or keep your phone number
• How to spot and avoid scams
• Honest comparisons of real, active providers

We spend time verifying provider status through official sources so we’re not sending you toward a company that has already shut down.

What we are not

We want to be honest about our limits, because that honesty is the whole point of this site:

• We are not a phone provider. We can’t approve you, enroll you, or send you a phone.
• No provider pays us. Our only income is from ads, and no carrier or agency funds this site. (See our Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure.)

That independence is what lets us tell you the truth.

A note from us

We’ve spent countless hours reading government rules, checking provider websites, and even reaching out to providers directly to get answers straight from the source. Somewhere along the way, this stopped being just a website and became a small mission. If even one family avoids a scam or finally gets connected because of something they read here, it was worth it.

How we keep the site free
